Test sessions are conducted monthly at The Cooler. The Atlanta FSC also enjoys a reciprocal testing relationship with the Georgia FSC, FSC of Augusta. and the Greenville (SC) FSC.
U.S. Figure Skating test patches for each test passed are distributed to each skater at no charge. In addition, the club publishes an excellent Moves in the Field manual, which is available to members at a cost of $10.00.
The Atlanta FSC offers complimentary Club Ice to qualified skaters on designated Fridays from 5:45 - 6:45 pm at our home rink, The Cooler, preceded by 45-minutes off-ice conditioning classes at 4:45 pm. Special events such as pre-competition exhibitions complete the Club Ice agenda.
The Atlanta FSC hosts two local competitions annually. The Magnolia Open, held in March, attracts over 250 competitors, and is open to No Test through Juvenile levels as well as Adult Pre-Bronze through Gold and Basic Skills skaters. Events include free skate, compulsory moves, spins, solo dance, showcase, and interpretive.
The Atlanta Open, designated a Future Champions Series competition in 2003 and 2005, is conducted in June and hosts over 300 competitors from No Test through Senior and Adult Pre-Bronze through Gold levels. Events include free skate, short program, compulsory moves, jumps, showcase, spins, pairs, and solo and couples dance.
Social activities include an Awards Banquet honoring skater, volunteer, and official accomplishments, membership ice cream socials, and Club Ice special events. All South Atlantic Regional Championships competitors are also invited to perform their programs at an exhibition during Club Ice prior to the competition. All members are invited to a send-off party following the exhibition.
The club also hosts an annual Ice Dance Weekend that offers a fun-filled ten hours of ice dancing, two hours of clinics with coach Graham Payne, three hours of ballroom dance and a fabulous dinner dance.
The Atlanta FSC offers financial assistance to qualified members on an annual basis as well as the opportunity to apply for a club-funded academic college scholarship.
